Description

This aftermarket cold air intake system improves your i30N’s airflow in several key ways. It routes the air more directly into your engine, using a huge 102 mm diameter, CNC mandrel bent alloy pipe. It also improves the airflow by adding a high-flow, high-efficiency air filter in place of the more restrictive factory air filter. Finally, the system is set up to allow cooler air to easily flow into your engine.

The intake diameters on these air intakes have been carefully tuned to provide exactly the correct quantity of air ensuring solid consistent power gains throughout the rev range without any loss of low-end torque. The pipework is specifically designed to feed the turbo without interruption. The upshot to all of this is a gain of induction acoustics under acceleration, which improves the driving experience and adds a bit more drama to the Hyundai’s 2.0L, four pot engine. The large air filter flows 60% more air than the stock item. The intake is finished off with black thermal powder coating.

Hyundai boast figures of 275bhp and 278lb.ft on their standard vehicle. When testing this product, Forge achieved 296bhp and 310lb.ft in their CAT-backed performance exhaust development vehicle.

Testing took place with the bonnet shut and replicated wind speeds of around 70mph. Intake temperatures were logged and monitored along with thermal images taken. During this testing, the inlet pipe or intake temperatures did not rise. Even after four hard pulls, the inlet temperatures stayed at a steady 30°C.

Recommended Additions:
Applying a Thermal Gold Tape to the underside of the aluminium housing will further reflect any heat soak from the engine. The Coltec Heat Barrier Adhesive Thermal Tape comes on a 9-metre roll and is rated at continuous 450°C.
